In these difficult times of the pandemic, isolation, lock downs and fear, let us remember the thousands of people around the world who have been living through similar circumstances for a very long time now, due to natural or man made calamities. They are always in need and we can help them. After all, our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:  “Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity.” (Al-Tirmidhi)

MAA is responding to the COVID19 pandemic in two ways:

-  Local aid in Australia to help those most affected by the constantly changing scenario surrounding the pandemic.

  • MAA has already begun packing and distributing of food hampers in NSW, VIC, QLD, and WA to those in self-isolation, the elderly, and families and students in need of assistance.
  • We have setup the www.muslimtownhall.com website in Perth to provide assitance for those needing essential food, referrals for other assistance or simply to know what is happening in the Perth Community online. This project is in partnership with Qaswa and Muslim Youth of Western Australia and supported by local Leaders, Shuyukh and local Organisations.

- International aid in countries that are struggling to deal with the immediate effects of the lockdown and lack of access to daily essentials. Our focus has been on the following:
  • Food packs distribution - this includes daily essentials like flour, salt, sugar, milk powder and tea
  • Distribution of beds and mattresses for isolation centres, especially in Fiji.
  • Provide hygiene essentials like soap and access to clean water along with community hygience awareness sessions.

Separately, we are also part of a joint effort by several Muslim organizations in Australia who have come together to provide essential aid to Australians most affected by COVID19.

In all cases the distribution of essential humanitarian aid around the world continues using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other safety precautions where applicable.

In sha Allah, our team is determined to continue working hard in the lead up to the blessed and busy month of Ramadan. Join us in choosing Charity over Calamity!
