When Is Dhul Hijjah 2025?
Dhul Hijjah 2025 is expected to begin on Wednesday, 28 May 2025, subject to the sighting of the moon. This month is one of the most sacred in the Islamic calendar, marking the end of the Hijri year and containing some of the most beloved days to Allah ﷻ.What Is Dhul Hijjah?
Dhul Hijjah is the 12th and final month of the Islamic (Hijri) calendar. It is most well-known for two key reasons:
-
Hajj (Pilgrimage) – Millions of Muslims gather in Makkah to perform the sacred pilgrimage, fulfilling one of the five pillars of Islam.
-
Eid al-Adha and Qurban (Sacrifice) – Celebrated on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah, Eid al-Adha commemorates the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and includes the practice of sacrificing an animal and distributing its meat to the needy.
But even for those not going for Hajj, the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah are an incredible opportunity to draw closer to Allah.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days."
(Bukhari)
How to Prepare for Dhul Hijjah
🌙 1. Mark the Date
Start preparing from now. The month is fast approaching, and the first 10 days begin from 28 May 2025 (subject to moon sighting).
🤲 2. Make Tawbah
Cleanse your heart. Ask Allah for forgiveness and start the month with a sincere intention to increase in worship.
🐑 3. Organise Your Qurban
Book your Qurban early to avoid delays. Ensure your sacrifice reaches families in need by Eid.
🍽 4. Plan to Fast
Especially on the Day of Arafah (9th Dhul Hijjah)—fasting on this day expiates the sins of the past and coming year.
💰 5. Schedule Your Sadaqah
Automate or set aside charity for each of the ten days to maximise your rewards.
🗣 6. Increase Your Dhikr
Say “Allahu Akbar, Alhamdulillah, La ilaha illa Allah” frequently—especially after prayers and throughout your day.
Dhul Hijjah is not just about rituals—it's about returning to Allah with sincerity. Whether you’re performing Hajj or worshipping from home, don’t let these days pass by without striving for His pleasure.
May Allah accept our worship in these blessed days. Ameen.
