When is Eid Al Adha 2025?

When is Eid al-Adha 2025?

Eid al-Adha in 2025 will fall on Friday, 6 June, inshaAllah, based on the local sighting of the moon. It takes place on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah, the final month of the Islamic calendar. The day marks the end of Hajj and commemorates the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), who was willing to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command.

What Is Eid al-Adha?

Eid al-Adha, or the Festival of Sacrifice, is a time of spiritual reflection, community, and gratitude. It commemorates the great test of faith passed by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and the mercy of Allah in replacing his son with a ram. Muslims around the world honour this act by offering Qurban (sacrifice) and sharing the meat with family, neighbours, and those in need.

How Should We Prepare?

In the days leading up to Eid al-Adha, there are many actions we can take to spiritually prepare:

  • Observe the First 10 Days of Dhul Hijjah: These are among the most beloved days to Allah. Engage in extra acts of worship like fasting, dhikr, and giving charity.

  • Plan Your Qurban Early: Choose a trustworthy charity or local butcher to ensure your Qurban reaches those in need in time.

  • Attend Eid Prayer: Gather with your community for salah, takbeer, and heartfelt dua.

  • Dress and Prepare with Care: Sunnah encourages us to wear our best clothes and look presentable to mark the occasion joyfully.

Let Eid Be a Celebration, Not a Chore

Eid should feel like a true celebration—especially for our children. It’s easy to fall into the pattern of rushing from house to house, trying to keep up appearances. But in doing so, we often forget to pause and actually enjoy the day.

Let’s reclaim Eid as a source of joy and gratitude. Instead of dragging kids from visit to visit, give them time to play, unwrap thoughtful gifts, and feel excited about being Muslim. Let the home be a place of warmth, celebration, and love. Cook together, visit one or two close families, and truly savour the spirit of the day.

Let’s raise a generation that doesn’t just observe Eid, but loves it.
